In an automated cell, the unit interfaces between the mains supply and a synchronous or induction servo motor, shaping voltage and current so that position, speed, and torque follow controller commands with high precision. By combining power electronics with encoder evaluation and fieldbus connectivity, the drive occupies the central control slot in motion axes that demand coordinated, repeatable movement.
When powered from a 400 V line, the converter can supply an apparent power of 12.5 kVA, establishing the maximum volt-ampere capacity available to the motor windings. The continuous output path is rated at 18 A, while short accelerations are served by a peak capability of 36 A; these values guide cable sizing and inverter thermal design. Internal circuitry tolerates a DC link potential up to 875 VDC, and that link is stabilized by a storage bank totaling 1485 µF, which smooths regenerated energy during rapid deceleration. In steady operation the unit dissipates 255 W of heat, so cabinet ventilation must remove that loss. For dynamic braking, the external resistor may not fall below 22 Ω; this limit keeps surge currents within the drive’s semiconductor ratings.
