The AX5112-0000-0200 is a single-axis servo drive produced by Beckhoff within the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It converts a three-phase mains supply into a regulated output that commands brushless or induction motors used in automated production cells and similar machinery. Integration into EtherCAT-based motion systems allows coordinated positioning, while the drive’s internal DC link stores regenerative energy for recycling to the bus or dissipation through braking elements. The unit forms the central power and control interface between the plant controller and the mechanical axis during normal operation.
Its power section supplies 12 A continuously and can surge to 26 A for short intervals, supporting fast traverse moves and short acceleration demands. A parameter-selectable limit can reduce current to 0.5 A during testing. The intermediate energy store is a 940 µF capacitor bank inside the DC link, which may rise to 875 VDC during back-feeding events. Under nominal 400 VAC input, the drive handles 8.3 kVA of apparent power while dissipating 160 W of thermal losses through the integrated fan duct. Eight digital inputs accept limit switches or drive-enable commands, and a 1 A auxiliary supply powers external position sensors, simplifying field wiring.
During motor braking, the internal resistor can absorb 90 W, and connection of an external element rated at least 30 Ω raises the allowable dissipation to 23.5 kW.
