Product Description:
The AX5103-0000-0X00 is a servo drive from Beckhoff that belongs to the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It rectifies the incoming three-phase supply and generates a variable pulse-width-modulated output for precision speed and torque control of connected motors in automated machinery and handling systems. In industrial environments it links the motion controller to the motor, supplies regulated current, and manages dynamic braking energy.
The internal DC link can rise to 875 V DC, giving this drive a wide operating margin for high-speed positioning tasks. During acceleration the inverter can deliver a peak phase current of 7.5 A, while its thermal design supports a continuous rated current of 3 A under ambient conditions. When the motor must be stopped quickly, the integrated brake chopper directs up to 50 W of continuous brake power to the internal resistor, and the brake control terminal can source a maximum of 2.2 A for external holding brakes. If the cycle produces more excess energy, an external resistor as low as 47 Ω can be added, allowing the drive to dissipate up to 15 kW of braking power without exceeding thermal limits. A minimum channel peak current of 1 A ensures smaller feedback devices are also supported, and motor terminals are rated for 0.6 N·m of tightening torque to secure power leads.
The housing provides IP20 touch protection, carries a short-circuit current rating of 18 kA, and measures only 92 mm wide, so multiple axes can be installed side-by-side on DIN rail in a control cabinet. The specified vertical installation position promotes natural convection; combined with 50 W of internal power dissipation it keeps component temperatures within limits. Cabinet layout is simplified by a height of 317.7 mm and a depth of 232 mm (both without connectors), and clearances are set so that connectors remain accessible for service.
