Product Description:
The AX5103-0000-0200 is a single-axis servo drive manufactured by Beckhoff and supplied within the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It is intended to provide closed-loop control of synchronous or asynchronous motors in industrial automation cells. The drive links the machine controller to the motor while managing energy flow, motor feedback, and integrated braking elements.
The power section can charge its DC bus up to 875 VDC, a ceiling that marks the upper limit for regenerated or intermediate-circuit voltage during deceleration. A link capacitance of 235 µF stores this energy and smooths bus ripple so the drive can deliver a steady nominal output of 3 A. For rapid accelerations, it permits a peak output of 7.5 A for short intervals before returning to continuous ratings. Internal dissipation is limited to 50 W of power loss under nominal conditions, so cabinet airflow or mounting clearances must accommodate this thermal load. A 24 V control logic supply protected by a 3.4 A F fuse powers the gate arrays, and the sensor interface provides up to 1 A for encoder or resolver excitation.
The drive incorporates an external brake chopper rated for 15 kW pulses and a separate internal resistor path that can absorb up to 14 kW, so these paths manage regenerative energy when the motor decelerates. Eight digital inputs, shown as 8, allow direct wiring of limit switches or drive-enable contacts without additional I/O modules. When an external braking resistor is used, its resistance must not fall below 47 Ω to prevent overcurrent in the chopper transistor. Mechanical dimensions of 317.2 mm in height, 92 mm in width, and 232 mm in depth support side-by-side cabinet installation while keeping wiring distances short for the DC bus and motor leads.
