It operates as the power interface between a motion controller and a three-phase motor, converting DC bus energy into phase-synchronized voltage while handling regenerative power through an integrated brake circuit. In industrial automation systems, the unit supplies torque and velocity control for packaging axes, material-handling gantries, and other precise electromechanical tasks across automated lines. Its design supports modular cabinet mounting alongside matching power supplies so multi-axis lines can be scaled easily.
Thermal loading is governed by a continuous external braking capacity of 6 kW, allowing sustained dissipation when an external resistor is wired, while the internal resistor supports 150 W for applications with lower regenerative energy. The minimum external brake resistance of 22 Ω limits current peaks so the drive and cabling remain within safe thermal limits. A DC-link capacitance of 705 µF smooths the intermediate-circuit voltage, storing energy for short load surges and reducing ripple.
