The AX2516-B200-0000 is a single-axis drive module produced by Beckhoff within the AX Digital Servo Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the device conditions DC link power and modulates it for brushless servo motors in automated machinery. By linking to TwinCAT or other motion controllers over the AX bus, the drive regulates torque, velocity, and position so that packaging lines, material-handling stations, or machining centers can execute repeatable cycles with minimal dwell.

The housing is built to an IP20 protection level, so it requires mounting inside a switchgear enclosure where foreign object intrusion and touch safety are provided by the cabinet itself. A three-phase mains input of 400 VAC supplies the intermediate circuit, and the shared DC bus may host up to seven axis modules before the power supply has to be expanded. When every slot is occupied, the installed load must not exceed 12 kVA, keeping thermal dissipation within the 60 W rating that applies at nominal output. The output stage pulses at 8 kHz, giving the current loop adequate bandwidth for medium-inertia servomotors without exciting cable capacitance. Rated phase current is 6 A, which is sufficient for many 1 to 2 kW motors while still allowing the bus capacitors to recharge between switching events.

Short overtorque moves are handled by a peak phase current of 12 A, after which the controller reverts to continuous limits or trips if the DC link rises above 750 V. The permissible motor load inductance spans from 40 mH down to 7.5 mH; staying inside this window prevents regenerative voltage spikes during fast deceleration. Motor leads may run up to 25 m in total length before the reflected wave phenomenon forces additional filtering. Acoustic output of the integrated fan reaches only 45 dB(A), so the drive contributes little to ambient plant noise while its 15 W quiescent loss keeps standby heat generation low.
