The AX2503-B750 is a single-axis drive controller produced by Beckhoff within the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It communicates with motion controllers over a SERCOS bus and supplies regulated three-phase power to servo and induction motors used in positioning, packaging, and handling equipment. By modulating its IGBT bridge in real time, the unit converts DC link energy into phase-correct currents that enforce commanded torque and velocity profiles in automated machinery. This arrangement lets one module handle current regulation and motor response for a dedicated axis.
During continuous operation, the drive delivers 3 Arms per phase, while a transient reserve of 9 Arms supports rapid acceleration without overheating. An internal signal generator switches the output transistors at 8 kHz, a clock rate that limits current ripple while containing switching losses. Motor windings may present up to 75 mH of inductance, and below 12 mH an external reactor is recommended to maintain current control stability.
