The AX2503-B590 is a single-axis servo drive manufactured by Beckhoff and supplied within the AX Digital Servo Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit interfaces with automation controllers over fieldbus links and furnishes regulated three-phase power for precise motor control in assembly lines, packaging machines, and material-handling axes. By monitoring voltage, current, and temperature in real time, the drive maintains stable torque production while protecting connected motors and power supplies during dynamic industrial duty cycles. This arrangement lets the higher-level control system issue motion commands while the drive manages the axis power stage locally, which helps support repeatable motion under changing load conditions.
Continuous output is 3 A rms, which is the maximum current the power stage can deliver without derating. During acceleration the limit increases to 9 A rms, letting the axis overcome inertia without requiring a larger drive. Switching transistors operate at 8 kHz, so control loops receive finely stepped voltage vectors that help keep torque ripple low. A DC-link monitor trips above 450 V to protect the semiconductors during regeneration. Motor windings with inductance up to 75 mH can be driven, making the unit suitable for high-inductance, low-speed servomotors. For continuous duty, the S1 apparent power reaches 7 kVA, matching moderate-power axes such as feeders or indexing tables. A current form factor of 1.01 helps keep output current close to its intended waveform, while quiescent dissipation of 12 W and the 100 mm × 240 mm × 230 mm housing at 3 kg help limit cabinet heat load and preserve panel space.
