Product Description:
Beckhoff manufactures the AX2090-L805-0001 cooling fan module as a support component for the AX Digital Servo Drives series. The device couples directly to the drive housing and provides active airflow so that internal semiconductor temperatures remain within permissible limits during continuous operation. By integrating this module, compact control cabinets can maintain stable thermal conditions without requiring a larger enclosure or a separate external fan assembly. Its purpose is to support dependable heat removal at the drive, where concentrated power electronics benefit from directed airflow rather than passive dissipation alone.
The module is energized from a control supply of 24 VDC, and under that voltage it draws only 0.19 A, which keeps demand on the auxiliary power rail low. Together, these values correspond to an electrical consumption of 4.6 W, so the fan adds only a small heat load of its own during operation. Protection against accidental contact is rated at IP20, which suits installation in closed panels where ambient air is kept reasonably clean. Cooling is produced by a centrifugal impeller that operates by forced ventilation. In this arrangement, air moves in a defined blowing direction toward the drive heat sink, helping reduce recirculation and keeping airflow focused where heat is generated.
Electrical connection is made through an industrial M12 plug coded to the specified pinout, allowing quick removal while helping prevent reverse polarity during installation. The fan housing mounts to the servo drive with clamping hardware tightened to 2.5 Nm, and separate bracket screws are tightened to 3 Nm to keep the assembly secure under vibration. At only 1.10 kg, the module adds little mass to the mounting surface and can be integrated without placing a heavy mechanical load on the surrounding structure. Acceptable non-operating conditions span from -25 °C to +65 °C, allowing spare units to be stored in unconditioned spaces without harming the bearings or insulation.
