Product Description:
The AX2090-B110 is a fieldbus interface intended for the AX Digital Servo Drives series manufactured by Beckhoff. Installed beside the power stage, it establishes the network path that links a drive axis to higher-level control hardware in industrial automation cells. Its role is to convey real-time motion data and status information so that each servo amplifier operates in tight coordination with other devices on the production floor.
Two shielded front ports, specified as 2 x RJ45, accept standard Ethernet CAT-5 cable. The ports carry the drive’s chosen fieldbus, and the protocol is identified as EtherCAT, which provides distributed clock synchronization at a line speed of 100 Mbaud. Signal integrity between different sections is maintained by an isolation barrier rated at 500 Vrms. For plant layouts that spread equipment, a maximum link length of 100 m can be achieved without repeaters. Four integrated diagnostic LEDs report link, activity, and error conditions. The module derives its operating power from the attached servo drive, eliminating an external supply, and when it is connected through a PC, the manufacturer requires an Intel-based NIC to maintain frame timing.
Operating limits and software requirements affect where the interface can be used. It tolerates ambient moisture up to 95% relative humidity, allowing installation in humid process zones when enclosed appropriately. Compatibility on the electronics side starts with FPGA build number 22 and hardware status 29.02. The servo amplifier must run firmware version 6.78 or later and carry serial numbers from 780 266 0000 upward. For software setup, TwinCAT version 2.10 with build 1313 or newer is required so that configuration dialogs and real-time drivers recognize the card. These version requirements allow the EtherCAT stack, diagnostics, and cyclic data exchange to operate correctly during machine startup.
