The AX2020-B900-0000 is a single-axis servo drive manufactured by Beckhoff for the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It converts DC-link energy into three-phase power for synchronous or induction servomotors used in industrial handling, packaging, and machine tool cells. The drive communicates through an integrated Ethernet expansion interface, enabling bus-level coordination with a Beckhoff motion controller. By combining power conversion, network communication, and regeneration hardware, the unit supplies regulated current to a motor and manages braking energy during deceleration.

During operation, the control electronics receive 24 VDC, and the power stage supplies a continuous phase current of 20 Arms to the motor. For brief acceleration commands, it can reach 40 Arms, which supports short-term peak demand during rapid speed changes. On the supply side, the installed load is 14 kVA, so upstream feeder components must be matched to that apparent power level. The drive dissipates 200 W at rated current, while quiescent losses remain at 15 W when the axis is enabled without torque demand. Its aluminum housing measures 120 mm in width, 265 mm in depth, and 275 mm in height, allowing compact fanless installation alongside other AX drives.

Regenerative energy is absorbed internally at 200 W or routed to an external 33 Ω resistor to prevent DC-link overvoltage during braking. The permissible motor inductance ranges from 2 mH to 12 mH, which helps maintain stable current control across different motor windings. A brake output delivers 2 A for releasing holding brakes on vertical axes, supporting controlled startup of suspended loads. With a mass of 7.5 kg, the drive adds only moderate load to the panel and provides useful thermal buffering during changing duty cycles. This arrangement suits applications with frequent starts, stops, and reversals.
