The AX2006-B900-0000 is a single-axis servo drive from Beckhoff’s AX Digital Servo Drives series, intended to control brushless motors in automated machinery. It links motion commands to plant control networks through an integrated Ethernet fieldbus interface, translating position or torque references into regulated phase currents. Within an automation cell, the unit supplies and monitors motor windings, absorbs regenerated energy, and exchanges diagnostic data so the controller can coordinate multiple axes.
During continuous operation, the drive delivers a rated phase current of 6 A RMS and can supply up to 12 A RMS for dynamic peaks such as acceleration or shock loads. At rated current, power dissipation is 60 W, while surplus braking energy is handled internally up to 200 W or routed to a factory-installed 33 Ω external resistor when higher loads appear. The power section is sized for an installed load of 4 kVA, and the control electronics draw 15 W when no motor current flows. Compatible motors must remain between 7.5 mH and 40 mH of phase inductance, or current ripple and controller saturation may occur. A residual voltage drop of 5 V appears across the output stage, and the instantaneous current form factor of 1.01 keeps RMS heating nearly equal to the arithmetic mean.
Control inputs run from a machine-provided 24 VDC supply that powers the gate drivers and logic circuits. The analog velocity or torque channel updates every 62.5 µs and has an input resistance of 20 kΩ, allowing high-speed closed-loop corrections without excessive load on upstream converters. Feedback to external instruments is generated by a digital-to-analog stage with 10 bit resolution, enabling finely stepped status voltages. The slight form-factor deviation of 1.01 helps the drive produce motor currents that remain very close to the commanded sine wave during operation.
