Product Description:

The AX2006-AX is a single-axis servo drive from Beckhoff's AX Digital Servo Drives series. The unit interfaces between a PLC motion command and a brushless AC servomotor, modulating power and monitoring feedback to regulate torque, speed, and position in industrial assembly lines, packaging equipment, and material-handling gantries. By combining power electronics and signal processing, the drive supplies controlled three-phase current while simultaneously reporting operating data back to higher-level automation systems. Its closed-loop design allows the controller to correct speed and position errors as operating conditions change.

Protection on the mains side is provided by a 10 AT fuse, limiting fault energy before it reaches the power stage. Internally, the inverter switches at 8 kHz, a clock frequency that balances low motor ripple with manageable switching losses. At nominal load, the device delivers 6 A rms and may surge to 12 A rms during brief dynamic events, while an output current form factor of 1.01 keeps the fundamental nearly sinusoidal. Heat generated under those conditions is 60 W, while idle consumption drops to 15 W. The analog input has a resolution of 1.25 mV, and its 20 kΩ input resistance minimizes source loading, while the 2.2 kΩ output resistance protects the analog reference line. The power stage accepts motor windings between 7.5 mH and 40 mH, and a braking transistor can route up to 2 A into an external resistor during deceleration.

Overall demand on the supply network is quantified by a 4 kVA installed load, so cabinet wiring and circuit protection can be sized correctly. The link stage has a residual drop of 5 V, which helps maintain adequate motor back-EMF margin. For downstream devices, the drive offers 10 bit analog output granularity, enabling proportional valve or meter control without a fieldbus. That analog output can also pass a scaled process value to external monitoring or control hardware.
