Product Description:
The AS1060-1120 is a two-phase stepper motor produced by Beckhoff as part of the AS Stepper Motors series. In automated machinery, it converts programmed pulse trains from a drive into incremental rotary motion, allowing indexed positioning of tooling, conveyors, and assembly axes without a full servo feedback loop. The motor is suited for repeatable positioning tasks where straightforward control and consistent step response are important.
Mechanically, the motor follows an industry-standard mounting interface, and its square flange measures 86 mm, so it fits NEMA-34 gearheads and brackets. A static holding torque of 5.0 Nm helps the shaft maintain position when powered but stationary, which reduces the chance of load drift. The windings draw a rated phase current of 5.0 A, and the drive uses this value when setting current limits for operation. Native step resolution is 1.8°/200 full steps, which gives 200 discrete rotor positions per revolution before microstepping. For closed-loop verification, an incremental encoder delivers 1024 increments per turn, and this feedback is powered from a 24 V DC source for loss-of-step detection during dynamic moves.
The housing has a protection rating of IP20, so the motor should be installed inside a cabinet or another protected enclosure away from dirt and liquids. Continuous output of 68.8 W suits moderate-power linear stages while keeping winding temperature within normal limits. Electrical behavior of the coil is characterized by an inductance of 2.80 mH and a resistance of 0.36 Ω, which affect current rise time and high-speed step response. Rotor inertia is 3.0 kg·cm², the second shaft supports attachment of external encoders or hand wheels, and the bearings are rated for a service life of 30,000 hours.
