The AS1059-0120-1001 is a two-phase stepper motor manufactured by Beckhoff within the AS Stepper Motors series. Designed for indexers, conveyors, and other positioning axes, the unit converts digital pulse trains from a drive into discrete angular increments, allowing open-loop or encoder-assisted motion control in industrial automation systems. Its compact build and standardized connectors allow quick cabinet integration while maintaining electrical separation between power and feedback connections. Mechanically, the motor mounts through a 56.0 mm square flange, a common NEMA 23 compatible footprint. Each command pulse rotates the shaft by 1.8°, so one revolution requires 200 full steps, and the integrated rear shaft can accommodate external encoders or handwheels when needed. Environmental sealing reaches IP43, permitting installation in cabinets where dust or light spray may be present. A pre-fabricated 300 mm cable terminates the power lines in an M12, 4-pin connector, while feedback leaves through an M12, 5-pin encoder connector. The incremental encoder supplies 1024 inc/rev, enabling finer position verification than the native step resolution alone. For high-speed moves, the encoder can stream position data at 200 kHz, so drives can monitor motion without losing counts up to 6,000 rpm. That modest current draw fits common control-power circuits without placing much load on the encoder supply rail.
