The AS1020-0120 is a two-phase stepper motor produced by Beckhoff within the AS Stepper Motors series. Intended for compact positioning axes, the device turns pulse commands from PLC motion modules into incremental shaft rotation so that tooling can be indexed without gearboxes or servo loops that depend on feedback. By magnetically detenting the rotor at each commanded step, it provides static holding force even when stationary, making it suitable for laboratory instruments, light conveyors, and small pick-and-place heads where repeatable motion and simple wiring are priorities.
The motor provides a holding torque of 0.5 Nm, keeping the shaft fixed when the phases are energized but not advancing. One electrical revolution is split into 200 steps that produce a mechanical step angle of 1.8°, giving a direct ratio between command pulses and position. It draws a rated phase current of 1.0 A and delivers 10.0 W of output, while the winding temperature may rise by 80 K under continuous duty. An incremental encoder on the shaft yields 1024 increments of feedback for optional loss-of-step monitoring. Rotor inertia of 0.074 kg·cm² supports quick acceleration, and the lubricated bearings are rated for 30,000 h of service at nominal loads.
