The AM8561-0G21-0000 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by Beckhoff and assigned to the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended to drive medium-to-large axes that require accurate velocity, position, and load-holding control, such as feeder rolls, pick-and-place heads, and tool changers. By combining electronic commutation with integrated position feedback, the unit functions as an electromechanical actuator in closed-loop motion systems controlled by Beckhoff drives and TwinCAT automation software. This arrangement allows the drive to regulate motor torque and speed in response to changing motion commands and operating loads.
Cabling exits through a rotatable angular connector or a terminal box, allowing the outlet direction to be adjusted for strain relief and routing in confined machine spaces. Position data are provided by an OCT multi-turn encoder, whose absolute count across multiple revolutions eliminates the need for a reference move after a power cycle. The OCT interface carries feedback data through the motor cable, reducing the number of separate connections required between the motor and drive. A 142 mm square flange provides a broad mounting surface for attaching the motor to a machine plate or compatible gearbox. When brake power is removed, the 24 VDC holding brake locks the rotor to prevent a stationary load from moving, which is particularly important for vertical axes.
The dynamic response is influenced by a rotor with an increased mass moment of inertia, which helps damp speed fluctuations caused by sudden load changes. Length code 1 keeps the housing compact within this motor frame. The available continuous holding torque spans 20 Nm to 36 Nm, providing several torque options for axes with different load requirements. A smooth shaft supports friction hubs, clamping couplings, or shrink discs while avoiding the stress concentrations associated with a keyway. Electrical performance follows winding code G, which establishes resistance, inductance, and thermal characteristics compatible with the corresponding Beckhoff drive parameters. The motor is supplied in the standard version, with the common protective features and dimensional tolerances used for this AM motor configuration.
