The AM8072-0T21-0000 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Beckhoff for the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This standard version forms the electromechanical core of high-precision axes that require accurate position and velocity control in industrial automation. When paired with a compatible Beckhoff drive, the motor converts electrical power into regulated torque and speed for packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and material-handling equipment. Its frame and electrical layout support dynamic operation within the supply limits commonly available in industrial control cabinets.
The installed 24 VDC holding brake releases when control voltage is applied and clamps the rotor when that voltage is removed. The brake provides 70 Nm of holding torque, helping prevent vertical loads from drifting while the axis is stationary. A 194 mm square flange provides a stable mounting surface and supports accurate alignment with the connected machine assembly. Rotor position is captured through an OCT multi-turn encoder, which supplies absolute feedback over multiple revolutions and eliminates the need for a homing routine after normal power cycles. Power and signal leads use a rotatable angular connector, allowing the cable exit direction to be adjusted for the available installation space, panel layout, and strain-relief arrangement.
Torque is transmitted through a smooth shaft, allowing the use of clamp or press-fit couplings without a keyway. This interface can reduce mechanical play when the shaft is joined to a compatible gearbox, pulley, or direct-drive load. The mechanical stack uses length code 2, which provides a medium housing length that balances continuous output capability with rotor inertia. The motor uses winding code T, which sets the electrical characteristics required for operation with the appropriate servo amplifier. Proper drive configuration allows the amplifier to regulate current according to the motor’s voltage, speed, and thermal operating limits.
