Product Description:
The AM8051-1G21-9000 servo motor is manufactured by Beckhoff for the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This rotary unit forms the electromechanical link between a Beckhoff drive amplifier and the moving elements of a machine, translating commanded current into repeatable angular displacement. By integrating encoder feedback and a holding brake, it secures the axis during power loss and supports the dynamic motion profiles required in pick-and-place heads, feeders, and light machining spindles used throughout industrial automation.
The brake coil is energized at 24 VDC, so the control supply that releases the shaft can share a widely used PLC auxiliary rail. Power and feedback lines exit through a rotatable angular connector or can be wired into a terminal box, allowing the cabling to be oriented for tight machine housings. Rotor position is reported by the OCT multi-turn encoder, which counts multiple shaft revolutions and provides absolute positioning without battery backup. A square flange measuring 104 mm across aligns directly with compatible gearboxes. The integrated 24 V holding brake prevents axis drift when mains power is removed, which is useful for vertical or gravity-loaded applications.
The motor supports a stall torque range of 9 Nm to 20 Nm for configurations associated with length code 1, making it suitable for medium-load applications. Torque is transferred through a shaft with a groove and feather key. This arrangement complies with DIN 6885 and provides positive engagement with pulleys or rigid couplings while allowing the connected component to be removed for service. The housing uses an AM3x5x-compatible flange and shaft, allowing installation in machines that already accommodate this mounting geometry without requiring changes to the mounting plate. The internal G winding code establishes the resistance and inductance parameters required by compatible Beckhoff AX series drives, supporting accurate current regulation during acceleration, steady operation, and controlled deceleration.
