Product Description:
Beckhoff’s AM8041-0DH0-0000 is a synchronous servo motor from the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. The unit is intended for closed-loop positioning and velocity control in industrial automation cells where compact rotary axes must couple directly to drives. Beckhoff supplies this motor as a standard version that integrates with the manufacturer’s EtherCAT drive platforms, providing a matched motor-drive set without custom adaptation. It uses permanent-magnet excitation to deliver repeatable torque and precise feedback for pick-and-place, packaging, and material-handling stations. By combining a low-inertia rotor with digital commutation, the model maintains consistent motion profiles in high-cycle machines.
High-resolution position information is generated by a 24-bit encoder that integrates an OCT multi-turn measuring system, allowing the drive to recover the absolute shaft angle after a power loss without external homing. Mechanical attachment follows IEC dimensions through an 87 mm square flange, so the motor aligns with standard gearheads or direct mounts. Power and feedback conductors exit through a rotatable angular connector, allowing the cable route to accommodate different installation orientations. For applications that stop through drive torque alone, the rotor is supplied without a holding brake, reducing weight and eliminating residual drag during dynamic cycles.
The mechanical output uses a smooth shaft, which suits backlash-free clamp couplings and eliminates stress concentrations associated with a keyway. Functional safety is supported to SIL 2, enabling safe torque off or safely limited speed modes when the motor is paired with compatible Beckhoff safety drives. Physical depth is indicated by length code 1, which identifies the shortest housing in this frame class and eases installation in compact equipment enclosures. The motor uses winding code D, so its rated current and voltage match compatible drive amplifiers without requiring parameter scaling.
