Product Description:

The AM8031-3C21-0000 is a special AM servomotor built by Beckhoff International for the most precise and advanced applications. Servomotors are starting to become more in-demand in the market these days because of their ability to inherently monitor, encode, process, and even control critical motor parameters during operation. For automation purposes, having a servomotor increases system reliability and productivity. The AM8031-3C21-0000 is part of Beckhoff’s AM servomotor series line, having a type-1 frame and a flange size of 72 mm. When operated at its nameplate mains voltage, the machine’s shaft speed approaches a nominal RPM of 3000.

For motors, the speed of the shaft is expressed in revolutions per minute, or RPM. The AM8031-3C21-0000 employs a type-2 feedback system, which allows it to monitor the number of completed revolutions along with the rotor’s instantaneous position with respect to a reference point. Aside from its encoder, the AM8031-3C21-0000 also incorporates a type-3 shaft, which comes with a groove, feather key, and a radial sealing ring. With the incorporated feather key, the machine’s torque transmission experiences little to no mechanical losses. The radial sealing ring, on the other hand, increases the shaft side’s protection rating to IP 65.

The protection rating for motors is a two-digit number indicating how well the machine is protected from solid particles, objects, or liquids. Like the shaft side, the AM8031-3C21-0000’s housing also has a protection rating of IP 65. Having an IP 65 degree of protection indicates complete protection against solid particulates or dust and liquid jet applications in any direction at low pressure levels. At nameplate conditions, the AM8031-3C21-0000 supplies 0.42 kW and 1.34 Nm. At this power output, the RMS current draw is 0.95 A.

Frequently Asked Questions about AM8031-3C21-0000:

Q: How long is the cooling time for the AM8031-3C21-0000?

A: AC motors must rest for at least five times their rated thermal time constant. For the AM8031-3C21-0000, the time constant is 24 minutes, which translates to an estimated cooling time of 2 hours.

Q: Can the AM8031-3C21-0000’s phases be reversed?

A: To ensure stable operation, the phases of the AM8031-3C21-0000 must not be reversed. When the phases of the motor are reversed, a fault error with code number 2 is generated.

Q: Does the AM8031-3C21-0000 come with a holding brake?

A: Yes, the AM8031-3C21-0000 comes with a 24 V holding brake that can halt a maximum rated torque of 2 Nm at 120 degrees C.

Q: How long are the delays for the AM8031-3C21-0000’s holding brake?

A: The AM8031-3C21-0000’s holding brake can only complete activation and deactivation after a delay of 8 and 25 ms, respectively.

Q: How much current and power does the AM8031-3C21-0000’s brake need during operation?

A: When activated, the AM8031-3C21-0000’s holding brake draws 0.33 RMS current and consumes 11 watts of power.
