Product Description:
The AM8031-2D21-0000 is a synchronous servo motor built by Beckhoff within the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. As a compact rotary actuator, it supplies the torque and position accuracy required for packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and other multi-axis machinery used in industrial automation. The motor integrates position feedback, power transmission, and braking components in a single housing, allowing it to be mounted directly to gear stages or load shafts without separate feedback devices or brake assemblies.
The integral 24 VDC holding brake is compatible with control power supplies commonly used for sensors and contactors. When power is removed, the brake locks the rotor to maintain the axis position during standstill or an emergency stop. Power and encoder leads exit through a rotatable angular connector, which can be positioned before tightening to simplify cable routing in confined cabinets or on moving carriages. Motor position is returned to the drive by the OCT multi-turn feedback system, which retains absolute position across multiple revolutions and eliminates the need for homing after power-up. A square mounting interface with a 72 mm flange mates with compatible gearboxes and provides a consistent mounting pattern across the available motor lengths.
Length variant 1 keeps the motor stack short while providing a continuous holding torque range of 2 Nm to 3.5 Nm, depending on the stator depth. Torque is transmitted through a smooth shaft that accepts clamping couplings for zero-backlash power transfer. For dusty or damp locations, a radial shaft-sealing ring with IP65 protection helps prevent contaminants from entering along the shaft. The D winding code identifies the motor’s thermal and electrical characteristics, which are used by a compatible servo drive to regulate current and torque. The motor series type and mechanical version use the standard configuration offered for this model.
