The AM8031-2C11-0000 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by Beckhoff and supplied within the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. As a compact rotary actuator, it converts drive current into controlled torque and speed for positioning tasks in packaging machines, pick-and-place axes, and similar automation cells. This type of motor is used where repeatable acceleration, controlled stopping, and accurate shaft positioning are required through frequent motion cycles. It is supplied as a standard version with the standard motor series type, so it follows the usual mechanical format for this product line. The motor is intended for use with Beckhoff servo drives in EtherCAT-based motion systems.
The motor has a flange dimension of 72 mm, which allows direct attachment to gearboxes or machine frames without extra adapter plates. Brake power is supplied at 24 VDC, energizing the integrated 24 V holding brake so the shaft can remain clamped when the inverter is disabled. Position data are returned through an OCT single-turn encoder, which provides absolute rotor angle to the drive for immediate closed-loop control after power-up. Mechanical output is delivered through a smooth shaft, which avoids keyway stress concentrations and supports friction-fit couplings. The electrical winding uses code C, which corresponds to resistance and inductance values matched to Beckhoff AX series amplifiers.
The holding brake provides static retention of 2 Nm to 3.5 Nm, which supports vertical-axis holding when drive torque is unavailable. The brake is useful when an axis must remain in place after power is removed, especially on vertical loads. Cabling exits through a rotatable angular connector or a terminal box, making cable routing easier in tight enclosures. A radial shaft-sealing ring IP65 helps keep coolant spray and dust away from the bearing set. The sealed shaft area helps protect the bearings during operation, while the connection options leave more flexibility for cable direction.
