Product Description:
Permanent magnet-excited motors provide several advantages that make them perfect for industrial and servo systems. Compared with other motor types, permanent magnet-excited motors feature high efficiency and reliability, along with a compact design and construction. Although the initial investment might be a little higher, the guaranteed lifespan of permanent magnet-excited motors makes them worth their price. The AM8031-0C20-0000 is a three-phase permanent-excited motor developed by Beckhoff for servo applications under the AM motor series. It has a guaranteed lifespan of 30,000 hours and operates at a wide ambient temperature and speed range. The AM8031-0C20-0000 experiences no derating when operated between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius.
At its nameplate voltage, the AM8031-0C20-0000 achieves an output torque of 1.34 Nm and a speed of 3000 rpm. Based on its nameplate, the RMS current of the motor at 400 V supply voltage is 0.95 amperes. When the motor is excited while keeping the rotor stationary, the machine draws a stall current of 1 ampere and develops an equivalent shaft torque of 1.37 Nm. Using the parameters achieved during stationary-rotor conditions, the machine’s protection devices and system may accordingly be developed. The AM8031-0C20-0000 has a flange length of 72 mm and a motor feedback system that employs a multi-turn OCT encoder.
The AM8031-0C20-0000 incorporates a smooth shaft without a radial shaft sealing ring. Without a built-in motor brake, the machine maintains its standard rotor moment of inertia, mass, and dimension. Based on AM8’s documentation, the AM8031-0C20-0000 has a rotor moment of inertia of 0.47 kg (cm^2), a mass of 1.8 kilograms, and a frame size of 129 millimeters. Considering its small frame and light construction, the AM8031-0C20-0000 has a small thermal time constant of 24 minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions about AM8031-0C20-0000:
Q: Is it okay for the AM8031-0C20-0000's current to exceed the nameplate rating?
A: The AM8031-0C20-0000 can safely operate up to a peak current of 5.5 amperes. For applications that might exceed the peak current, a current divider circuit may be necessary.
Q: What are the electrical characteristics of the AM8031-0C20-0000’s stator winding?
A: The AM8031-0C20-0000’s winding has a measured phase-to-phase resistance and inductance of 51 ohms and 134 mH at 1 kHz and 20 degrees C.
Q: What permissible temperature range is applicable for the AM8031-0C20-0000 during storage?
A: The motor may be stored safely at an ambient temperature between -25 and 70 degrees Celsius.
Q: What is the maximum storage time for the AM8031-0C20-0000?
A: For most Beckhoff’s AM motors, the maximum storage time within the permissible ambient range is two years.
Q: What is the purpose of the yellow cap on the AM8031-0C20-0000’s drive shaft?
A: The yellow cap serves as a protective cover for the shaft’s drive against mechanical stresses and environmental effects.
