The AM8021-3B21-0000 is a synchronous servo motor from Beckhoff in the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. In an automation cell, it is paired with an EtherCAT drive to position tooling, carriers, or spindles with high repeatability. By providing closed-loop torque and speed control, it supplies the mechanical actuation required for coordinated multi-axis machinery. This type of motor is suited to axes that need stable response during frequent starts, stops, and direction changes.
When installed, the motor’s integrated holding brake is energized with 24 VDC, matching common control-level supplies and allowing quick engagement during emergency stops. The square mounting flange measures 58 mm, so the housing aligns with standard IEC dimensions for compact servo installations. An OCT multi-turn encoder delivers absolute position feedback over many revolutions, eliminating homing runs after power cycles. That feedback path supports synchronized motion where the drive must track rotor position continuously during acceleration and dwell periods. Power and signal wiring exit through a rotatable angular connector, and a terminal-box option is available when rigid conduit is preferred. The motor uses winding code B, which establishes the electrical characteristics needed for the continuous current range of Beckhoff AX5000 drives.
The built-in holding brake supplies 2 Nm of static torque to keep the load fixed when the drive is disabled. To protect the bearings against lubricants and dust, the output end uses an IP65 radial shaft-sealing ring.
