Product Description:
The AM8021-0B21-0000 is a servo motor produced by Beckhoff within the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop motion axes where compact dimensions and high repeatability are required, such as pick-and-place gantries or packaging stations. By combining permanent-magnet rotor technology with digital position feedback, the unit converts drive current into precise rotary motion that can be integrated directly into an EtherCAT-based automation platform. Its compact frame also supports installation on machine axes where available mounting space is limited.
For controlled stops and emergency holding, the brake coil is energized at 24 VDC, so the brake can be powered from standard control circuits without a separate transformer. Rotor position is returned to the drive through an OCT multi-turn encoder, which transmits both absolute position and revolution count so homing cycles are unnecessary after power loss. A 58 mm square flange gives the motor the same bolt circle as many compact gearheads, which helps simplify mounting on small drive assemblies. The shaft is manufactured as a smooth shaft, allowing clamp couplings or press-fit pulleys to be mounted without keyway stress concentrations. When the brake is engaged, the motor can resist up to 2 Nm of static load, which helps prevent drift on lightly counterbalanced vertical axes.
Cabling flexibility is improved by a rotatable angular connector, which can be oriented to suit tight cabinet layouts or moving carriages. The adjustable connector position can also reduce cable bend stress near the housing. Electrical parameters are set by the B winding code, so the motor can be matched with suitable current and voltage ranges at the drive. The overall length code 1 keeps the body short for space-restricted machines. The motor is supplied in the standard mechanical version and standard series type, and it includes a factory-installed holding brake.
