Product Description:
The AM3044-0J31 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Beckhoff as part of the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop positioning and velocity control on compact machine axes that require fast response and repeatable accuracy. When connected to a compatible Beckhoff AX5xxx drive, the motor converts commanded current into synchronized mechanical rotation. This operation allows gantry bridges, indexing tables, and feeder rollers to follow programmed motion profiles in automated production lines. Integrated rotor feedback provides the drive with the position information needed to regulate torque, speed, and angular movement during dynamic operating cycles.
An integrated 24 VDC holding brake releases electrically during operation and clamps the shaft when power is removed. The brake provides up to 9 Nm of static holding torque, helping prevent suspended or externally loaded axes from drifting while stationary. The motor uses a square flange measuring 87 mm across, providing a compact mounting interface compatible with IEC size 80 gear stages. Rotor position is detected by a Hiperface single-turn encoder with 128 SinCos signal periods from the F6 range. This feedback device supplies absolute angular position within one mechanical revolution and provides sine-cosine tracks for precise commutation. Mechanical output is transferred through a smooth shaft, which accommodates backlash-free clamping couplings without requiring a keyway.
The motor is supplied in the Standard version, with the regular coating, bearing arrangement, and cooling configuration for this product line. Its housing corresponds to length class 4, which provides a consistent reference for determining the axial space required by the motor and its attached coupling. The selected frame length accommodates the active magnetic components while preserving a compact profile for closely arranged machine axes. Electrical characteristics follow winding code J, which establishes the phase resistance and voltage constant used by the compatible drive controller. These electrical values allow the controller to apply suitable current limits and acceleration settings for the connected load. The combination of absolute single-turn feedback, a clamping shaft interface, and an electrically released brake supports controlled motion as well as secure load retention when drive power is unavailable.
