Product Description:
The X20CP1382 is a CPU module produced by B & R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. This central processing unit hosts a Vx86EX processor and acts as the controller that coordinates distributed X20 slices, deterministic fieldbus traffic, and user logic inside machine-level automation systems. By combining program execution, local signal preprocessing, and network routing in one enclosure, the device replaces separate PLC and communication cards in compact machines or skid-mounted equipment.
Processing performance is provided by a 400 MHz clock, allowing deterministic scan cycles while buffering data inside 256 MB DDR3 SDRAM. Applications and firmware reside on a 2 GB eMMC flash array that endures frequent write cycles typical of recipe handling or trend logging. Electrical demand stays modest at 5.5 W, so convection cooling inside a protected cabinet is sufficient. For direct wiring the unit offers 30 digital channels that can be parameterized as inputs or outputs. The housing measures 164 mm in width, 99 mm in height, and 75 mm in depth, giving a high channel density per rail segment. An X2X backplane supplies 2 W of output power to downstream interface modules without a separate feed.
Analog sensing is handled by 2 integrated differential inputs, eliminating an external slice for basic current or voltage feedback. Network connectivity includes CAN at 1 Mbit/s, RS-232 up to 115.2 kbit/s, and POWERLINK at 100 Mbit/s for real-time Ethernet motion coordination. Configuration data and counters survive power loss inside 32 kB FRAM remanent storage. The plastic enclosure carries a IP20 rating, so it is installed in a closed control panel. The controller supervises mixed I/O, shares deterministic data across the backplane, and exchanges time-critical telegrams over the plant network without additional gateway hardware.
