Product Description:
B&R Automation manufactures the 3XP152.60-2 CPU card for the System 2005 Controllers series. The card serves as the logic engine in a modular PLC rack, executing user programs, supervising communication networks, and synchronizing I/O modules to control repetitive industrial sequences such as conveyor speed regulation and pick-and-place timing. It integrates processing, memory, and field interfaces within a 28 mm-wide housing, allowing compact installation in control cabinets while maintaining the deterministic response required by high-throughput machinery.
The processor completes a Boolean instruction in 0.8 microseconds, so even large logic routines can close control loops with minimal delay. The board has a maximum power draw of 4 W, easing thermal management in densely packed enclosures. An Intel 82527 controller drives the isolated CAN port and supports bit rates up to 500 kbit/s, sustaining message integrity across distributed machine layouts. CAN segments may extend up to 1,000 m when configured for a suitable communication rate and cable system. For local diagnostics, a non-isolated RS-232 channel offers data exchange at up to 64 kbaud and supports cable runs of 15 m. The real-time clock records events with one-second resolution, allowing the controller to maintain time-based sequences and alarm logs while processing other tasks.
The CPU dedicates 138 KB of fast system RAM to operating code and variables, while nonvolatile storage includes 512 KB of FlashPROM for system software and another 512 KB block for application files. Retentive data and process images reside in 118 KB of dual-ported RAM, allowing concurrent access by the PLC scan and peripheral masters. A minimum baseplate backup period of four years preserves these memory areas during power loss without requiring battery replacement during that interval. The casing measures 130 × 28 × 105 mm, so multiple modules can fit within a control cabinet while using minimal mounting space. Its form factor aligns with System 2005 power supplies and I/O modules, supporting an orderly cabinet layout and direct integration into a modular controller rack.
