The 3PS790.9 is a power supply module manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the System 2005 Controllers series. Inside a System 2005 rack, the unit receives utility power and distributes the regulated low-voltage energy that controller CPUs and I/O modules require for deterministic operation. Integrating this supply within the controller cabinet shortens field wiring runs and keeps the automation system’s electrical domain consolidated. This arrangement also supports stable power delivery for processor logic, module communication, and other control functions that depend on a consistent supply.
This module is designed for a single-phase input of 230 VAC, matching common industrial mains in Europe and many global facilities. Its maximum continuous output capability is rated at 50 W, so the connected controller segments must keep their combined load within that limit. Overcurrent events are contained by internal current limiting, which folds the output back before damage can occur. Primary line protection is delivered by a 6.3 A slow-blow / 250 V fuse that tolerates the inrush current typical of capacitive power supplies while still clearing sustained faults. That cartridge follows the miniature 5 × 20 mm form factor, which is widely used in compact electrical assemblies. Downstream terminations are landed on a 10-pin terminal block, allowing separate circuits for logic and peripheral loads without shared conductors.
