The 3PS465.9-RL power supply module is produced by B & R Automation within the System 2005 Controllers series. It occupies two back-plane slots and converts the external supply into stabilized logic and peripheral voltages for the processor and I/O segments. Integrated energy storage and signaling functions let the module maintain controller operation during brief supply dips, which is essential for deterministic machinery sequences and orderly system shutdowns. By combining buffering, fuse protection, and a ready relay output, it forms the electrical core of a rack-mounted automation node.
The module carries a single-phase backup capacitor bank of 10000 µF, allowing several milliseconds of ride-through so volatile data can be written to non-volatile memory. A dedicated buffer circuit maintains a nominal rail of 12 V to hold processor logic when the main bus decays. Overcurrent events are limited by an internal fuse rated at 6.3 A, protecting both the wiring and downstream electronics. For peripheral loads, the 24 V branch can deliver up to 50 W, while the aggregate limit across all rails is 60 W.
