The 3PS465.9 is a power supply module produced by B&R Automation for the System 2005 Controllers series. It converts a 24 VDC field source into stabilized low-voltage rails that power CPU, I/O, and communication cards inside an automation rack. By integrating input filtering, buffering capacitors, and a ready relay, the unit supports uninterrupted controller operation during voltage dips that are common on industrial plant buses.
The module accepts a nominal input of 24 VDC but remains functional between 18 VDC and 30 VDC, so it tolerates brownouts and transient peaks on 24 V distribution lines. Internal input capacitance of 500 µF smooths those disturbances before regulation stages. Two independent outputs are provided: the 24 V rail can deliver up to 50 W for relays, sensors, and actuators, while the logic rail supplies 40 W at 5 V for processors and memory. Combined, the outputs are limited to 60 W to prevent thermal overload. Regulation components are sized for a continuous current requirement of 3.5 A, and external RAM on the controller backplane can be held by an auxiliary 12 V line when the main supply is removed.
