Product Description:
The 3ME960.90-1 controller module belongs to the System 2005 Controllers series from B&R Automation. It forms the central processing element in distributed machine-control racks, where it executes user logic and retains operational data during power interruptions. By combining static RAM with onboard Flash and an auxiliary battery, the unit maintains program integrity and permits field upgrades without removing the module from its mounting rail. This layout supports compact control assemblies that need local program storage and dependable data retention during short power losses.
The module carries a backup battery rated at 950 mAh and energized by an internal supply of 3 V, and these keep volatile memory valid when external power is absent. Application code is stored in a nonvolatile block of 256 KByte FlashPROM, while dynamic variables reside in 64 KByte SRAM. The Flash can be reprogrammed through the Logic In Module, LED Display interface, allowing direct status indication on the front panel. Accidental erasure is prevented by a hardware write-enable slide labeled Switch On Module, which must be engaged before code changes are accepted. The memory arrangement and write protection help preserve application data and reduce the risk of unintended changes during normal operation.
Secondary retention is provided by a RAM buffer battery rated for at least 2 years and a capacitor that bridges outages for a minimum of 10 minutes. The electronics can be stored without a battery down to -20 to +70 °C. With the battery installed or removed from its socket, permissible storage and transport temperatures are -20 to +60 °C, and the cell itself may be kept separately between -20 and +60 °C. The housing measures 90 mm deep, 140 mm high, and 20 mm wide, which supports dense stacking in standard control cabinets while leaving room for ventilation and field wiring channels.
