This plug-in card adds one serial and one deterministic Ethernet channel, enabling the PLC to exchange real-time data with drives, distributed I/O, and supervisory computers in automated production cells. By dedicating protocol handling hardware to the card, the controller can maintain cycle times while extending its communication reach.
The board follows the aPCI form factor, so it occupies one compact slot on the System 2005 backplane and gains direct access to process data. Channel IF1 uses a 4-pin male multipoint connector that carries an RS485 signal set and supports transmission speeds up to 115.2 kbit/s. This rate suits parameterization tools or low-bandwidth drives that share longer multidrop segments. The module’s housing meets the IP20 ingress rating, indicating basic finger protection when installed inside a control cabinet.
