Product Description:
The 3IF060.6-1 interface board is produced by B & R Automation for the System 2005 Controllers series of PLC backplanes. It is intended to extend the I/O capabilities of a main rack by translating external sensor or actuator lines into the bus format used by the controller. By inserting this module, system integrators can tailor the signal count and wiring layout to the exact needs of individual machines without redesigning the entire control cabinet.
At the logic supply level the module draws 1.0 W from the 5 V rail, a low figure that simplifies power budgeting for dense racks. Its housing is designated Single-Width, so it occupies precisely one grid unit on the backplane and leaves adjacent slots free for other functions. Electrical connection is limited to 1 insert slot, which reduces address mapping complexity. The card can be installed in the primary rack only; this main rack only restriction guarantees that critical bus timing is preserved. Environmental ingress is curtailed by the IP20 protection type, making the board suitable for closed cabinets where there is no direct exposure to dust or splashing liquids.
The absence of visual annunciators means status reporting is performed through the bus protocol; the front panel carries none of the customary LEDs. During operation the module remains within a temperature window of 0 °C to +60 °C, and it tolerates storage down to -25 °C to +70 °C, allowing spare parts to be kept in typical warehouse conditions. Total power demand equals the 5 V draw, so no extra load is introduced when the board is idle. Long-term compatibility with the wider System architecture is assured because every hardware revision is validated by B & R Automation before release.
