The 3IF060.6 is an interface module manufactured by B & R Automation for inclusion in the System 2005 Controllers series. Installed in the primary controller rack, it provides an additional communication bridge that links the CPU to specialized field or peripheral devices and therefore extends the automation cell’s overall I/O reach.
It operates from the controller’s 5 V backplane and its combined consumption, including logic and transceivers, never exceeds Max. 1 W. Classified as a Interface Module, the board uses a Single-Width carrier so it occupies only one slot and leaves neighboring positions free for other functions. The housing follows the IP20 protection type, limiting installation to clean, enclosure-protected cabinets where solid objects larger than 12 mm are excluded. The slot reference is reserved for Interface Module Inserts, meaning cables or daughter cards specific to the 2005 backplane can be added without altering the rack wiring. This unit is intended for main rack mounting; it is not designed for expansion racks, a distinction that simplifies power distribution and address assignment.
Within the chassis the controller assigns a dedicated insertion point, and the insert slot count is limited to 1, preventing parallel stacking of identical boards in the same position.
