Product Description:
The 3DO760.6 digital output module is manufactured by B&R Automation for the System 2005 Controllers series. Designed as a relay interface card, it receives logic-level commands from a controller CPU and opens or closes field circuits, allowing machines to switch both AC and DC loads without additional interposing hardware. By isolating the control electronics from higher voltages on the plant floor, the module helps maintain signal integrity and supports safe integration inside distributed automation panels. Because the switching elements are mechanical relays, the outputs can interface with contactors, lamps, solenoid valves, and other field devices that need isolated switching rather than transistor-level drive signals.
Each of the eight relays can handle up to 2000 VA when driving AC equipment, while DC loads are limited to 120 W. A single-channel isolation scheme keeps every output electrically independent, and channel-to-channel withstand voltage is rated at 1000 VAC for one minute. The relay coil and contact set are separated from the PLC backplane by 2800 VAC for the same test duration. This separation helps prevent disturbances on one field circuit from passing directly into neighboring channels or the rack electronics. Field circuits may be supplied with either 30 VDC or 240 VAC, and the contacts use a 4 CO + 4 NO arrangement that supports both changeover and normally open switching functions.
The card provides 8 independent outputs, and each channel is indicated locally by an LED while software reports a matching status bit. Continuous load per relay is limited to 4.0 A, and the total current through the common supply rails is capped at 32.0 A. The common-rail limit means simultaneous loads must be distributed so the summed current stays within the module allowance. Internal electronics draw 4.0 W from the rack, while external sensors require a separate supply source. Heat dissipation must remain within the limits of an IP20 housing, so the module is intended for installation in a protected cabinet. Per-channel indication also allows quick confirmation of output activity without disturbing the field wiring.
