The B & R Automation 3DO690.6 module belongs to the System 2005 Controllers series and is intended for switching AC loads in distributed control cabinets. It plugs into the system backplane to translate PLC logic levels into mains-level drive signals, allowing actuators to be energized directly from the controller rack. By using solid-state triacs rather than mechanical relays, the product provides long service life in output control tasks such as energizing solenoid valves, contactors, and stack-light indicators in automated equipment.
The card offers 8 outputs arranged in two groups of four, and each channel employs a Triac element so it can switch alternating-current loads. Designed for branch circuits that operate at 120 VAC, every channel can deliver up to 1 A of continuous load current while the entire module is limited to 4 A. These electrical limits help match the module to upstream fuses and field wiring so that inrush or fault currents stay within the permissible thermal envelope. This combination of channel count, device type, voltage rating, and current limits suits actuators such as heater contactors or small induction motors that can be driven directly without interposing relays.
