The 3DO650 relay output module is manufactured by B & R Automation for the System 2005 Controllers series. Installed alongside the CPU, it converts low-level control signals into field-ready contact closures so that solenoids, contactors, and indicator lamps can be switched directly from the rack. This arrangement allows the controller to interface with external devices that require isolated switching rather than logic-level outputs.

Each of the module’s four output groups can carry up to 8 A, giving a total load capacity of 32 A across all channels. Within those groups, the unit provides 16 contacts with a normally open relay design, so every channel remains open when de-energized and can source or sink up to 2 A. The nominal control levels are 120 VAC / 24 VDC, while the relays withstand line potentials as high as 144 VAC or 30 VDC and can deliver up to 300 VA / 90 W of resistive load. Silver alloy contacts hold resistance to 100 mΩ, so voltage drop remains small when the outputs drive low-power sensors.
