B & R Automation manufactures the 3DM476.6 as an I/O slice for the System 2005 Controllers series. The module combines discrete sensing and actuation so a CPU node can map field devices directly onto its process image. Designed for 24-volt control cabinets, it contributes sixteen input channels and sixteen output channels to an industrial automation rack, allowing a compact machine controller to monitor switches, proximity sensors, lamps, and relay coils without external interface boards.

The input side is built with 16 channels arranged in four groups, and each group uses a Sink/Source topology so either positive-switching or negative-switching devices can be wired.
