The 3CP320.60-1 is a controller module manufactured by B&R Automation for the System 2005 Controllers series. Built on an Intel chipset, the unit serves as the primary CPU in modular machine control cabinets, executing ladder or structured-text logic that coordinates sensors, drives, and safety nodes in real time. This role lets it manage sequence control, data exchange, and coordinated machine responses from a central processing point. Its nonvolatile memory stores configuration data, allowing automated equipment to resume defined states after a power cycle.
Execution speed is supported by a minimum cycle time of 1 ms, giving the PLC the ability to refresh inputs, run logic, and update outputs one thousand times per second when the application requires it. Within that interval, the scheduler can host up to 800 cyclic tasks, each mapped to a priority level for deterministic scanning. Priority-based scheduling helps time-critical control loops run predictably even when background communication is active. The controller also accepts asynchronous communication, and its configuration permits as many as 128 INA connections so HMI panels and peer nodes can transfer data without blocking the scan. The controller supports up to 1000 total tasks, combining cyclic, system, and user-defined jobs. Variable storage includes 65535 Bytes of global volatile process variables for fast-changing data, and the default stack for each task uses the same amount of memory.
Long-term datasets are protected by remanent resources. Application parameters are retained in 32 kB of battery-backed memory, and a separate bank of 8192 Bytes is reserved for global remanent process variables to prevent loss after a controlled or unexpected shutdown. Noncyclic activities are kept separate from the primary scan, and the operating kernel allows 100 system-level noncyclic tasks for diagnostics, while users may add up to 10 noncyclic routines for background functions such as recipe loading. Separating noncyclic work from the main scan helps background activities run without interrupting time-sensitive control logic. The AR-OS operating system uses baseline G0286 / R0273, which maintains compatibility across the System 2005 portfolio and matches the Intel instruction set used on this CPU module.
