Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 3BP150.4 as part of its System 2005 Controllers series. The unit is a modular backplane that forms the mechanical and electrical spine of a System 2005 rack, giving the power supply and connected I/O modules a common bus and mounting point inside an industrial control cabinet. By grouping field-level signals and supplying them with shared logic power, the board simplifies panel layout and shortens wiring runs in programmable automation cells.
The backplane measures 165 x 600 x 23 mm, a profile that accommodates standard cabinet depths while leaving room for cooling airflow. It snaps onto a DIN EN 50022, 35 x 7.5 mm rail, so no special fixture is needed. The board provides a total of 15 slots; the first two positions are reserved for the incoming power module, indicated as Slots 1 and 2, while the remaining positions accept signal or system modules. The expansion rule is 1 Power Supply + 13 I/O, and side clearance of 20 mm on each edge is required to retain convection paths and prevent pinched cabling at neighboring equipment.
The environmental envelope supports continuous use from 0 to 60 °C and at relative humidity from 5 to 95 %RH without condensation, allowing installation on most production floors without a dedicated climate chamber. An enclosure classification of IP20 applies when the unit is mounted inside a grounded panel, protecting against accidental contact with live conductors while relying on the cabinet for dust and drip shielding. Long-term idle storage is permitted between -25 to 70 °C, so spare assemblies can be warehoused alongside other electronic assets until retrofit or expansion work is scheduled.
