The 3BP065.4RL is a modular controller backplane produced by B & R Automation for use in the System 2005 Controllers series of programmable control platforms. It forms the physical and electrical hub that links CPU, I/O and power elements inside a cabinet-mounted automation node. By accepting dedicated power supply sections and field interface cards, the backplane enables reliable task sequencing, data exchange and machine supervision on assembly lines, packaging lines and other industrial processes that rely on deterministic, hardware-level signal distribution.

Signal routing occurs on a Combined I/O and System Bus, letting the same multilayer traces carry both cyclic process data and internal service signals without additional cabling. The backplane provides 4 slots, so up to four functional modules can be inserted side by side while maintaining correct bus terminations. Two pluggable bays accept 2 x 24 VDC supplies; when both sources are present, an onboard logic block automatically switches to the healthier input to uphold the backplane’s Redundant Power Supply role and prevent brownouts. Because each slot is tied directly to the bus, the CPU detects inserted modules, assigns addresses, and routes energy to every section in accordance with configured load limits.

Cabinet integration is simplified by the Direct Screw Mount layout that anchors the housing flat against a back panel or clips to a DIN EN 50022 (35 x 7.5 mm) rail through molded recesses. All copper traces are sealed with a Varnished coating that shields against condensation or conductive dust. Two dedicated terminals support output from 2 current output units, allowing analog actuators to be connected without extra boards. In the System 2005 Controllers platform, the backplane serves as the common mounting and connection point for installed modules.
