Product Description:
The 3BM150.9 is a dummy module for a modular controller rack. As a passive slice that occupies a physical slot, it preserves the mechanical layout and electrical continuity of a System 2005 I/O rack when an active slice is not required. In phased machine builds, it fills an unused position so open spaces do not interrupt the physical sequence of installed modules. By maintaining spacing and bus shielding, the module helps keep cabinet layouts orderly and leaves room for later I/O additions without disturbing adjacent slices.
The module has an ingress protection rating of IP20, which limits its use to enclosed control cabinets where only solid objects larger than 12.5 mm can reach the terminals. Its single-width housing occupies one grid unit on the backplane, so it uses minimal rail space. As a dummy module, it contains no active electronics; instead, an internal jumper carries the local bus to the next slice and maintains continuity between powered modules. Because it lacks active circuitry, it does not process field signals or perform control tasks. Permitted ambient humidity is 5 to 95% non-condensing, and the operating temperature range is 0 to 60 °C. For storage or shipment, the module withstands temperatures from -25 to 70 °C without deformation or loss of insulation performance. It locks directly onto compatible base units, and the side clip supports quick removal when the rack configuration changes.
Using the module in unused slots keeps the rack covered until additional I/O is needed. Its expansion unit compatibility allows it to sit next to analog, digital, or motion slices without mechanical changes. Within the System 2005 Controllers architecture, the part matches the mounting geometry and backplane contacts used by B & R Automation. It can remain in place until a functional slice is installed, which helps keep open rack positions covered during staged assembly or later system changes.
