To measure resistance accurately, the 3AT450.6 I/O module uses four inputs specifically for Pt100 resistance sensors. For diagnostic purposes, status indicators are included in this module which provides information about the operation of converters and measuring time. It consumes power of 3.0 W at 24 VDC and 1.0 W at 5 VDC to operate, thus making a total of 4.0 W produced by the device. The channels do not have isolation between them but it does provide electrical isolation between the PLC and its channels as well as fulfilling CE UKCA cULus (E115267) industrial control equipment requirements.
The 3AT450.6 module has an inbuilt digital converter with a resolution of 13,500 steps and supports resistance measurement for connections using four wires. When output is structured in INT, conversion time is given as either 100 ms during a measurement period of 20 ms or with a measurement period of 16.67 ms then conversion time will be equal to or less than 85 ms. With basic accuracy ~0.1% at a temperature of 20C, this module can work with Pt100 sensors while being able to measure temperatures from -50 up to +450C. Also designed for different climatic conditions, storage goes between -25...+70c according to IEC62262; operating range spans within -25+60c according to IEC60721. The device functions reliably over a wide range of environmental conditions; working well within relative humidity from five percent up-to ninety-five percent.
According to EN60529 mechanical characteristics, IP20 degree protection should be expected when handling any part connected to 3AT450.6.
