The 3AI350.60-1 analog input module is produced by B&R Automation for the System 2005 Controllers series. Mounted beside the system CPU, it conditions low-level process voltages and converts them into integer data that the controller can process. By centralizing sensor acquisition within the rack, it supports continuous monitoring of signals such as temperature, pressure, and position feedback in automated machinery. It plugs into the I/O backbone without requiring extra signal conditioning or separate power distribution hardware.
This single-width board provides 8 simultaneously sampled channels whose nominal operating window is ±10 V. Each input presents 2 MΩ impedance to the field device, minimizing loading on transducers. The converter produces INT-formatted words with 12-bit resolution, giving 4096 discrete codes for arithmetic inside the processor. Timing synchronization support lets the module align conversions with the system bus clock, and channel data passes through dedicated opto-couplers, so isolation between the channels and the PLC is maintained even though isolation between channels is not provided. Protection class IP20 permits installation in closed electrical enclosures, and the module fastens directly to a base unit or an adjacent expansion unit through integral backplane connectors, eliminating external jumper wiring.
