The 3A0350.6 is an analog output module produced by B & R Automation for the System 2005 Controllers series. Mounted beside the CPU, it translates numerical command values into regulated voltage levels so a controller can actuate drives, control loops, and signal-conditioning hardware. By supplying precise bipolar outputs, the module expands a System 2005 installation’s capability to interact with proportional valves, inverters, and instrumentation without external converters.
Each of the eight channels delivers a bipolar output range of ±10 V, matched to industrial references such as speed setpoints and valve controllers. The internal digital-to-analog stage runs at 12-bit resolution, producing a smallest programmable increment of 4.88 mV between successive code values. A per-channel conversion cycle completes in 250 µs, permitting rapid updates while the 1 kHz analog filter attenuates switching noise. Reliable loading is maintained as long as the field device presents at least 1 kΩ of resistance; higher-impedance loads further ease heat dissipation. Galvanic isolation separates the outputs from the PLC backplane, minimizing ground loops and protecting the CPU from external transients.
Static accuracy is tightly controlled: at 20 °C, the module holds each channel within ±0.25% of the commanded value, and across the full 0–60 °C operating window, deviation stays within ±0.5%. Current sourcing capacity is limited to ±10 mA per channel, supporting most voltage-driven actuators while limiting stress on the converter stage. A short-circuit safeguard trips near ±15 mA, preventing damage if a load is inadvertently bridged. Overall internal demand on the power bus remains below 5 W, keeping cabinet temperature increases low even when all eight outputs are active.
