B & R Automation’s 0MC211.9 is a removable memory module that integrates with controllers in the System 2005 series. Supplied in card form, it plugs into the I/O and processing rack to provide nonvolatile program and data storage for sequence handling, recipe management, and parameter backup in industrial automation cells. In a running control system, the module can hold application files, startup values, and retained data that the CPU needs after a restart. This makes it suitable for machines that rely on local storage inside the rack rather than separate removable media readers. The card is used to retain machine settings and stored application data without requiring an external computer during normal system operation.
The carrier follows the PC Card hardware outline, making it compatible with controller slots that use notebook-style expansion conventions. Compliance with the JEIDA V4.0 Type I profile keeps the thickness to a maximum of 3 mm, so the card fits flush inside the housing and avoids obstructing airflow. Its integrated memory array provides 2 MB of storage implemented with low-latency SRAM, which allows immediate byte-level access from the CPU without refresh cycles. Because the cells are battery-backed, data persists across power loss while still offering faster write times than flash memory. The electrical interface uses the PCMCIA timing map to reduce wait states when the controller retrieves opcode segments or trend files.
Physical and electrical operation follows PCMCIA Release 2.0, which governs signal assignment and card compatibility at the host connection. Peak dissipation is limited to 0.8 W max, so the module adds very little heat to densely packed cabinets. System 2005 controllers recognize the card as a MEMCARD device class, and write access is permitted on CP260 only. This arrangement helps protect stored application data from unintended changes on unsupported CPU variants.
