The 0MC111.9 memory card is an expansion component for controller configurations produced by B&R Automation within the System 2005 Controllers series. It functions as a removable flash storage module that holds application programs and the controller operating image, allowing field exchange without dismantling the rack. By matching the electrical and mechanical conventions of the series, the card supports reliable data retention and quick startup in industrial automation cells.
The card conforms to the JEIDA V4.0 Type I / PCMCIA 2.0 standard, which sets pin assignment, electrical tolerances, and insertion behavior so the controller recognizes the module after it is installed. Overall thickness is limited to 3 mm, which lets the module slide into the dedicated slot without stressing guide rails inside compact System 2005 bases. Data is stored in nonvolatile FlashPROM, giving millions of rewrite cycles and retention during power loss. Usable capacity is 2 MB, which is adequate for typical ladder logic, parameter sets, and controller images used by 2005 CPUs. Communication with the backplane occurs through the PCMCIA interface, eliminating special cabling and allowing the card to be preloaded on any portable writer that supports the bus.
Electrical load on the host remains low because the card draws 0.8 W maximum, so heat buildup inside sealed panels is minimal. The boot image is held as a MEMCARD ROM, so no separate boot chip is needed on the CPU board. Direct PC programming is not supported, so changes must be written to the card externally before installation. Internal variable storage and dynamic memory allocation are also not supported, which helps keep execution deterministic and limits unnecessary wear of the flash medium. The card is intended for fixed program storage rather than runtime data handling.
