The MDPIF1-1 Interface Module by B & R Automation is a compact serial communication unit. It is designed for use in MULTICONTROL PLC systems and industrial automation. The power consumption is efficient at just 1.1 watts when operating at a +8 V supply. The design eliminates the need for additional +15 V or -30 V power lines, simplifying system integration.
The MDPIF1-1 interface module features one RS422-compatible communication port through a 9-pin male D-sub connector. This port supports software-selectable baud rates between 50 and 19200 baud. The module allows configuration with 5 to 8 data bits, optional parity (none, even, or odd), and stop bit options of 1, 1.5, or 2 bits. The RS422 connection supports cable lengths up to 50 meters. It is suitable for medium-range communication in industrial setups. A hardware-based protection circuit safeguards the internal components. Although the transmitter and receiver are not electrically isolated. The MDPIF1-1 interface module is compatible with MULTI, MIDI, and M264 racks. It can be installed in slots 0 to 7 or A to F, depending on the rack type. The front panel is labeled “PIF1” for easy identification. The module is designed for serial communication and does not support encoder signal processing. An integrated input filter enhances data reliability in electrically noisy environments.
The MDPIF1-1 interface module operates reliably in environments with up to 85% relative humidity (non-condensing). It works well at elevations up to 2000 meters above sea level. The module is built to withstand industrial vibration levels as defined by standard DIN specifications. The mounting screws are integrated into the front plate for secure installation into the rack system. The module has a durable PCB design and compatibility with standard B&R PLC function blocks.
